Description
This single tooth cutter has a very sharp, exposed cutting edge (“hawk beak”) with an extreme grinding. The large flute enables a very good chip clearance. So the risk is low that the tool may clog during the milling process, also in softer sorts of aluminium.
Coating
Many of the single tooth cutters with hawk beak profile are optionally available with the high performance coating AluSpeed®, a titanium boride composition. Its great hardness efficiently protects the milling cutters from abrasion. A small affinity to aluminium notably prevents the formation of built-up edges. The surface of these tools is very smooth, thus the friction at the cutting edge will be reduced. Due to the very thin coating layer of only 1 to 2 µm the milling cutter remains very sharp as the cutting edges will nearly not be rounded off.
Fields of Application
Special milling cutter for aluminium; however, also very good results in plastics and wood. The coated tools are suitable for machining aluminium with a silicon part of up to 10%, copper and other non-ferrous metals.
Practical Tip
Choose short cutting edges (ideal in combination with increased shanks) for milling works respectively feed rates in the threshold range.
