vhf, a machine manufacturer from Southern Germany, has been offering its large-scale engraving and milling systems of the Active line for more than one year. They have a positioning range of up to 2 x 4 meters. Now these systems are also available in a more stable “Pro” version.

vhf has extended their range of tools by diamond attached milling tools. These milling cutters are provided with one or two polycrystalline diamonds (PCD) which consist of sintered unit crystals. They distinguish themselves by an extremely fine granulation and highest resistance to wear. The cut edges of the workpieces will look like polished.

Often it is much easier to cut several kinds of materials like foamed rubber, cardboard or foil into the desired shape than to mill them with a rotating tool. Very good and burr-free results can be achieved especially when working on thin or soft materials and on such which tend to fray. Thus, vhf has already offered different kinds of mechanical and automatic cutting devices for their engraving and milling systems for a longer period of time. Now there is a new more compact and competitive model with oscillating knife available as accessory.

Working on identical parts in a production run becomes much more cost-effective when there is more than one spindle mounted parallel on the engraving and milling system. The manufacturer vhf has now extended their range of accessories accordingly. With new mounting devices, several multi-spindle solutions can be realized.

The Control Panel is a new, compact operating unit for vhf engraving and milling systems. It enables the operator to set up comfortably different parameters like workpiece origin, feed and the rotational speed of the spindle.

Sharp edges or ugly burrs after the milling process are a disturbing factor for vhf. Therefore the company now offers a new special tool which can be used as well for chamfering as for deburring metal or plastics. The possibility to work effi- ciently with high rates of feed and the long endurance of this tool are especially remarkable features.

Especially when stainless steel has to be milled, most tools come to their limits rather quickly and break or wear too soon. vhf now offers a triple tooth cutter with a particularly stable geometry in addition to the engraver’s milling cutter for stainless steel.
