Highly Precise Cutting Works:
New Tangential Cutting Unit

Often it is much easier to cut several kinds of materials like foamed rubber, cardboard or foil into the desired shape than to mill them with a rotating tool. Very good and burr-free results can be achieved especially when working on thin or soft materials and on such which tend to fray. Thus, vhf has already offered different kinds of mechanical and automatic cutting devices for their engraving and milling systems for a longer period of time. Now there is a new more compact and competitive model with oscillating knife available as accessory.

The knife of this cutting unit moves up and down with a high oscillation frequency of more than 3,000 strokes per minute. So the materials will be cut through reliably even at higher rates of feed. As the knife is automatically adjusted tangentially by a motor into the cutting direction, the results will become precise and accurate. A large variety of knifes enables an easy adaptation to different kinds of workpieces and cutting tasks. Some materials which can be well processed are polysterene, styrofoam, foamed plastic, clad light density plates, rubber, carpets, cork, balsa wood, veneer, cardboard, foil, wallpapers, etc.

Especially for sign makers with their wide scope of tasks, it seems to be advantageous to extend their engraving and milling system with a cutting unit. So they will get a universal production system. With its price of less than 2,000 Euro, the tangential cutting unit is a useful second work ing unit in addition to the milling spindle. Many possible fields of application can also be found in the industrial sector. Prototypes and small series can be cut quickly and individually when the production of expensive cutting dies is not yet cost-efficient.
