vhf, a South West German manufacturer of engraving and milling machines has offered its new “Premium” line since the beginning of 2004. This new model range has already created a brisk demand. Due to a much more stable construction, more powerful drives and more flexible configuration options, these CAM systems are predestined for industrial use.
The substructure is constructed of aluminium panel profiles which are bolted horizontally against each other. This creates maximum warp resistance. This construction enables a low-vibration operation even while performing heavy milling works. Thanks to a completely new developed controller and more powerful drive units, there are considerably higher working speeds possible than it were the case with the previous systems.
The number of configuration possibilities has been increased, too. The Premium CAM systems may be constructed for instance with a front clamping range. This is basically a cut-out in the working table with different fixation bars and is used for working on the fronts of very long workpieces. This may be housings, semi-finished industrial parts or model making parts. Machine housings in different versions and security levels are now available for all system sizes. In addition to this, the Premium line offers greater positioning ranges of up to 2,050 mm in x and 2,510 mm in y direction with a z axis lift of up to 490 mm.
Frank Benzinger, vhf managing director, explains the reasons for this new development with the goal of a better positioning especially in the industrial sector: “Our plan was to realise a quantum leap for our customers. With the combination of a stiffer mechanics, a faster and more precise controller and new configuration options, we have achieved that goal.”
