Profile bars of different shapes made of metal, plastics or wood often have to be processed from more than just one side. Now vhf camfacture AG offers a new rotary axis for their basic systems of the Active Pro model range. This axis can also be mounted next to a plane machining area (vacuum or T-slot table) and thus opens up new ways of processing a workpiece.
So diversified as profile material may look, so universally the rotary axis may be designed: the cuboidal axis which is available with a length of up to six metres already in the standard programme is equipped with T-slots on all sides. So all necessary clamping devices for the profiles can be fixed or moved without much effort. Such devices may be for instance clamp levers which enclose the profile from all sides [see image] and so they ensure a really safe fixation. They are available in many different sizes to hold all common types of profiles. In addition to this one can also mount pneumatic fixing devices and hand-lever fixing devices.
The rotary axis is continuously rotatable by +/- 90 degrees so that the profiles can be processed from three sides without having to re-fix them. Due to its stable construction, the axis is also suitable for holding heavier workpieces. Whether one can drill, mill, engrave, chamfer or cut threads just depends on the equipment of the CAM system.
