vhf – manufacturer of CNC machining systems – has extended its range of high-class precision spindles by not less than three new rotary current spindles with pneumatic cone receptacle. These new models distinguish themselves especially by high rotational speeds which are uncommon for this kind of spindle type. They enable an efficient production at high rates of feed.
Two of the new models (SPC 2000P and SPC 4000P) offer up to 40,000 RPM with a mechanical output power under continuous load at the motor shaft of either 2,000 watts or 4,000 watts. They can hold tools with a shank diameter of up to 10 millimetres. Thus this new spindle series allows to advance into rotational speed regions which have been reserved to high frequency spindles so far. However, they achieve a remarkably higher torque at the same time.
The new model SPC 3800 P can clamp tool diameters of up to 20 millimetres. Its rotational speed range reaches up to 24,000 RPM with a mechanical output power under continuous load of 3,800 watts and a maximum mechanical output power of 6,600 watts. This spindle achieves the highest chip removal rate per working cycle of all vhf spindles. It is a good alternative when there are not highest rotational speeds required, but when large tool diameters should be used for milling.
An automatic tool change for a highly automatized and very rational machining process, which has been previously reserved to the high frequency spindles, is now also available for rotary current spindles. However, with the utilized cone receptacle not only the tool will be exchanged, but also the collet chuck with the cone. This opens the possibility to use a wider range of tools at the same time. Here vhf offers different kinds of individual solutions for automatic tool change stations.
